Cupuacu is the recently introduced super fruit gaining popularity here in the United States. Cupuacu fruit grows on trees in the Amazon rain forest and is a part of the Cocoa family (Yes, Chocolate!). Because of that, it has a light cocoa taste to it and is used in many South American countries to make gourmet deserts such as jams, ice cream and tarts. It resembles the shape of a coconut and has a fuzzy outside. It’s easy to find large segments of Brazilians who swear by this super fruit, claiming it assists in abdominal discomfort and labor pains.

Cupuacu fruit is very similar to the popular Acai berry being that it is rich in nutrients and delivers a major boost to the human body’s immune system. It contains a special natural potent of phytonutrient polyphenols which is not seen in any other natural fruits. That’s not all, it is also very rich in Vitamin B1, B2, B3 and Vitamin A and C. When tested in various lab settings, it was found to contain high levels of amino acids, calcium and selenium. What all this mean is is that this amazing fruit helps boost the immune system, helping fight off illness and thus keeping the body running smoothly. Another benefit of Cupuacu is the way it helps give the body energy without caffeine and does not give you that exhausted feeling afterwards. It’s like a shot of B12 just in a delicious fruit form.

There are also many other health benefits such as: cardiovascular protection, increased libido, improved circulation, decreased blood pressure, healthier looking skin, reduced signs of aging and improved mental focus. Not only does it give you an endless list of health benefits but it also taste delicious. You can get Cupuacu in it’s typical fruit form, drink form, powder form, ice cream form or yogurt form. As it becomes more widely known there are bound to be new products offered here in North America featuring this amazing super food.
